Firearm recovered during Springfield traffic stop


SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A Springfield man was arrested Thursday night after officers recovered a firearm during a traffic stop.

Springfield Police Department spokesman Ryan Walsh told 22News officers pulled over 24-year-old Maurice Howard after he cut them off at the intersection of Forest Park Avenue and Woodside Terrace.

It was discovered that Howard did not have a driver’s license and had a firearm in the car.

He’s now facing charges of: possession of a firearm without a FID card, possession of ammunition without a FID card, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, failure to yield to oncoming traffic when turning left, and a default warrant for various Chapter 90 offenses.
