Hartford police seize 698 bags of heroin during traffic stop

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) – Two arrests were made after Hartford police say they found 698 bags of heroin during a traffic stop on Tuesday night.

Police say at around 11:10 p.m., officers patrolling the area observed a Honda Civic traveling north on South Marshall Street with a license plate that did not correspond to the vehicle. Based on this violation, police say they pulled over the car. 

During the stop, the passenger of the car was seen allegedly trying to hide an item. Police checked that item and found it to be 698 bags of heroin. 

The passenger, 19-year-old Francisco Gonzalez, of Hartford, was then arrested and charged with possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics with intent to sell.

The driver, 20-year-old Alberto Rodriguez-Garcia, of Hartford, was also arrested and charged with improper use of marker plate, operating an unregistered vehicle, insufficient insurance and operating under suspension.
