Holyoke man arrested on warrants in connection with 2013 shooting, drug arrest

A Holyoke man was arrested in Springfield Saturday night on two default warrants in connection with a 2013 shooting of a young girl and a previous drug arrest. 

According to Springfield Police Spokesperson Ryan Walsh, 25-year-old Kenny Bynum was arrested after officers saw him riding in the passenger seat of a car and recognized him, knowing he had warrants.

Walsh said Bynum was arrested on drug charges on December 1, and is currently on probation for an incident in March 2013 when he allegedly shot a young girl.

Bynum is charged with: 

  • default warrant
    • armed assault to murder
    • possession of a firearm without an FID
    • carrying a loaded firearm
    • assault and battery with a dangerous weapon 
    • malicious property damage more than $1,200
  • default warrant
    • distribution of a class B drug
    • two counts of possession with the intent to distribute a class B drug 
    • operation of a motor vehicle without a license
