A Holyoke man who was allegedly found to be in possession of 16,000 files of child pornography and a 170-page manual entitled, “How to Practice Child Love” has been sentenced to prison time.
According to a release sent to 22News by U.S. Attorney Andrew Lelling’s Office, 75-year-old Edward Dupont was sentenced Thursday to eight years in prison and seven years of supervised release.
Dupont was arrested in August 2015 and has been in custody ever since. He pleaded guilty to receiving child pornography back in January.
According to the US Attorney’s Office, Dupont waived his Miranda rights during a search of his home in 2015, and told federal agents he had a sexual interest in young children. Dupont denied ever having sexual contact with children, but admitted that neighborhood children would come over to play in his backyard and basement.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office reports that the 170-page manual federal agents found presents itself as an “an education and a step-by-step guide for adults to engage and practice sexual relationships with children.”
Of the 16,000 files found on Dupont’s computer, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said four of the videos depicted the rapes of girls as young as five years-old.
The case is brought as part of Project Safe Childhood. For more information about Project Safe Childhood, please visit www.projectsafechildhood.gov/.
