Holyoke police investigating shooting on Appleton street


HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Police are investigating after a man was shot and seriously injured in Holyoke Saturday. 

Holyoke Police Lieutenant Jim Albert told 22News officers were called to a report of a shooting on 337 Appleton Street around 2:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

The victim, a 29-year-old victim was shot in his hip. He was moved from the emergency room of Holyoke Medical Center and taken to Baystate Health where he underwent surgery for his injuries. He is expected to be okay. 

Lt. Albert said the shooting happened in a parking lot near the Circle K convenience store in Holyoke. Police believe that the suspect shot the victim during a confrontation. 

Police are still looking for the suspect. 

Lieutenant Albert said the suspect is believed to be a Hispanic male dressed in all-black clothing. Police also recovered a black Dodge SUV at the scene, which is believed to be the suspect’s vehicle. 

The Holyoke Police department is being assisted by the Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Unit and Ballistics Unit. 

The shooting is still being investigated.
