Holyoke Police looking for SUV driver who hit dog, dragged woman near Main St.


Police are looking for the driver of a black SUV that hit a woman and her dog in the Main Street area Wednesday night. 

Holyoke Police Lt. Jim Albert told 22News a 32-year-old Holyoke woman was walking her dog on Main Street near Lyman Street when the accident occurred.  

Lt. Albert said around 8: 10 p.m., a black Chevy SUV attempted to make a turn when the vehicle hit her dog, which was on a leash wrapped around the woman’s waist, dragging her along. 

The dog suffered non-life-threatening injuries, but the condition of the woman is currently unknown. 

The black Chevy SUV was reported last seen heading towards the Veteran’s Bridge which leads into South Hadley. 

Lt. Albert is urging anyone who might have seen the incident or has any helpful information to call the department at (413) 536-6431.
