Inmate who walked away from day program in Enfield found

ENFIELD, Conn. (AP/WWLP) – An inmate who walked away from a day program in Enfield Saturday is back in police custody.

Officials say the walk away inmate Christopher Somsky was apprehended on Sunday at 11 p.m.

Somsky walked away from a day program at Asnuntuck Community College around 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.

Somsky was being treated for a hip injury likely to have been sustained while on the run at a local hospital when he was taken into custody.

Once medically cleared, Somsky will be transferred to Northern Correctional Institution.

According to AP, Somsky was an inmate at the Willard-Cybulski Correctional Institution in Enfield and had been taking part in an approved program at the college when he walked away. 

Somsky was sentenced to a maximum nine-year sentence for second-degree robbery in 2015.
