Man arrested after allegedly trying to break into West Springfield home

A West Springfield man is facing charges after he allegedly tried to break into a home Tuesday afternoon.

According to the West Springfield Police Department, officers were called to a home on Southworth Street at 12 30 p.m. for a report of a man kicking a fence gate at the backyard of the residence.

Police said witnesses didn’t recognize the man and said the man, later identified as Jose Dejesus, also checked the handles of the car parked in the driveway.

When officers got to the home they allegedly found Dejesus attempting to hide in the back yard. After an investigation police said they found Dejesus didn’t know anyone who lived at the home and had no reason for his actions.

Dejesus is charged with trespassing, a felony charge of attempted breaking and entering a building in the daytime, and a felony charge of attempted breaking and entering a vehicle in the daytime.
