Man arrested after dead dog found hanging from tree

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WIVB) – Police have made an arrest in the case of a dog found hanging from a tree in Jamestown on Monday evening. 

Robert Overton Jr., 47, was accused of felony aggravated cruelty to animals.

According to police, Overton hanged the dog from a tree in late November or early December.

The animal was seen by a person walking through the area of Hallock St. near Palmer St.

Dozens of tips were called in on this case. Jamestown Police have also received requests for monetary donations toward a reward or a donation toward an animals cause. 

Police suggest that anyone who wants to donate money do it directly to their local SPCA or the Pick of the Littler animal shelter in Falconer, NY.
