At the time, it was 5 degrees outside.
Blake Allen Yates, 31 of Bellaire, was responsible for the child, and was in the store for 23 minutes before police arrived on the scene, according to Sheriff Dave Lucas.
After the two-year-old child was taken out of the vehicle, a worker from the nearby AT&T store took the baby inside while the child’s mother and grandmother were en route.
Yates was babysitting the child for the mother, who is a close friend of Yates’s. He had had the child for two days at the time,
Authorities also confirmed that the boy is doing okay. He was taken home with his mother, who will be following up with Ohio County Child Protective Services on the already-open case.
A Belmont County official also told 7News Yates is charged with endangering children. He has been released on $5,000 bond.
