Man arrested at West Springfield motel after allegedly assaulting pregnant woman


WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP) – A man was arrested Saturday morning for allegedly assaulting a pregnant woman at a West Springfield motel.

According to the West Springfield Police Department, officers were called to the Econo-Lodge around 5 a.m for a report of a woman screaming for help inside a room.

When police showed up they were directed to a room where they found Terrence Manuel of Springfield. Manuel allegedly told officers there had been a fight outside his room that he wasn’t involved in.

Police said speaking with Manuel, officers could hear a woman crying inside his room. After further investigation, officers found a pregnant woman in the bathroom of Manuel’s room who police that he had allegedly assaulted her in a dispute over money. 

The woman was taken to Baystate Medical Center and Manuel was arrested.

He is charged with assault and battery on a pregnant person, intimidation of a witness, and MTC warrant. 

Detectives are looking into the incident and said additional charges are possible.
