SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A Springfield man was arrested on a murder charge in connection with a crash that killed a pedestrian Tuesday.
Springfield police spokesman Ryan Walsh said 38-year-old Juan Antuna was arrested outside a home on Loring Street Friday afternoon.
Walsh said Antuna was the driver of the car involved in a crash that killed 54-year-old Jesus Nieves of Springfield, Tuesday on William Street. Nieves was identified as the victim late Friday afternoon by the Hampden District Attorney’s Office.
The DA said it appears Antuna and Nieves knew each other and that the two were involved in an altercation when all of a sudden Autuna struck Nieves with his vehicle.
Antuna was arrested on a warrant and charged with murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (foot) and assault with a dangerous weapon (car).
His arraignment has been scheduled for Tuesday in Springfield District Court.
