Man wanted on two warrants out of North Carolina arrested in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP) – A man wanted on two warrants out of North Carolina was arrested in Springfield Wednesday morning.

Springfield Police Department Spokesman Ryan Walsh said 21-year-old Khalif Slaughter was arrested at the corner of Massachusetts Avenue and Wilbraham Road around 10 a.m., on two fugitive from justice warrants out of North Carolina.

Walsh said Slaughter, who is currently listed as homeless, will be extradited to North Carolina.

Slaughter is being charged with:

  • Possession of a firearm by a felon
  • Two counts of assault with serious bodily injury
  • Two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon with the intent to kill
  • Discharging a weapon in an occupied property in a moving vehicle and violation of probation burglary. 

Members of the Springfield Police Warrant Apprehension Unit, U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, Massachusetts State Police VFAS and Hampden County Sheriff’s Department arrested Slaughter.
