Molly Bish mystery continues, 18 years after disappearance

WARREN, Mass. (WWLP) - The central Massachusetts town of Warren continues to mourn the loss of Molly Bish, who vanished 18 years ago Wednesday.

Though Bish's remains were found three years later, to this day, the person responsible for her death has yet to be identified.

Bish was just 16 years old when she disappeared from her lifeguard post at Comins Pond in Warren on June 27, 2000.

Her disappearance and death have been the subject of an intense investigation that received national attention, but no arrests have ever been made.

Even after all these years residents told 22News they're still hopeful their town will get the closure it needs.

" It's really hard to comprehend that something like that would happen in this small town," said Roger Beaupre. "The family will never get over this. I've known the family for years, I visit once in a while."

Bish's body was found in a wooded area of Palmer in 2003. The investigation has been ongoing, despite the passage of nearly two decades.

" I can see it in some people they're still kinda freakout about going out too late," said Robin Pensinger.
"I'm actually having a kid myself so the thought kinda freaks me out."

Last year, investigators began searching at a former campground in West Brookfield for a white car reported to have been seen in the area of Comins Pond the day of Bish's disappearance, believing it to be a strong clue in the case.

In the years since their daughter's disappearance, Molly's parents, John and Magi Bish, have become strong advocates for child safety.
