Montague’s acting chief of police arrested, placed on paid leave pending investigation

Montague’s acting chief of police was arrested Friday.

Montague Town Administrator Steven Ellis confirmed for 22News that Acting Police Chief Christopher Bonnett was arrested in town after an incident Friday morning.  

He could not confirm why Bonnett was arrested.

Ellis said Bonnett was placed on paid administrative leave pending an internal investigation. 

Montague Police Staff Sgt. Christopher Williams has been appointed acting chief while the investigation is underway.
