Motorcyclist charged following pursuit from Brimfield to Palmer

A motorcyclist will face charges after he allegedly refused to stop for police in two eastern Hampden County towns overnight, in a pursuit that ended only when he crashed into a pickup truck.

Palmer Police Sgt. Kenneth White told 22News that Palmer police were contacted by Brimfield Police, who were trying to catch up with a motorcyclist who was headed westbound on Route 20.

White says that Palmer officers set up on Park Street to intercept the motorcyclist, but he kept going. Police followed the biker, who collided with a pickup truck that was making a left-hand turn, just before the intersection of Park and Thorndike Streets.

The motorcyclist was complaining of pain from previous injuries, as well as shoulder pain from the accident, and was taken to the hospital, White said. At the hospital, Brimfield police identified him as the suspect they had been looking for.

The suspect has been summonsed to court. His name is not being released at this time.
