Florida’s Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office says the case of a dead infant found floating in the water near the Boynton Beach Inlet earlier this year is now considered a homicide.
The Sheriff’s Office held a news conference Monday morning saying they’ve received more than a dozen tips in the case of ‘Baby June’, but don’t have any solid leads about what happened her.
“We need to know who the parents are,” said Capt. Steven Strivelli of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
Strivelli says DNA tests show ‘Baby June’ was an even mix of African and Central Asian ancestry, and was likely born in a hospital or medical center.
“Some hospital, somewhere, has evidence of this child being born,” said Strivelli, who added that the baby’s umbilical cord had been clipped.
The female child was found floating in 75 to 100 feet of water off the Boynton Beach Inlet on June 1 and was estimated to have been less than two weeks old.
