Not guilty plea for man accused of hitting, killing Chicopee woman while driving drunk

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A man accused of hitting and killing one person in Chicopee Friday while driving under the influence of alcohol and seriously injuring another was arraigned Monday. 

David Delgado of Chicopee pleaded not guilty Monday morning in Chicopee District Court to operating under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of a personal injury/fatal crash, and motor vehicle homicide- OUI/negligent operation.

Delgado is being held on $750,000 cash bail. He will be in court next on May 22 for a pre-trial conference. 

Wilk said officers were called to the area of 460 Chicopee Street Friday night at 10:29 p.m. after reports of a car hitting a 23-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman who had been walking on a sidewalk. 

Delgado allegedly walked away from the crash site, but was found and arrested by police a short time later. 

Both victims were taken to the hospital where the woman later died of her injuries. The man was still in the hospital as of Saturday morning with serious injuries.
