WORCESTOR, Mass. (WWLP) –  The Ware man charged with lying to police during an investigation into the West Brookfield the killings of a mother and her three children has pleaded not guilty.

Worcester County District Attorney’s Office spokesman Tim Connolly told 22News Matthew Locke was arraigned in Worcester Superior Court Wednesday on four counts of misleading law enforcement in connection with the deaths of Sarah Bermudez and her children Madison, James and Michael.

Prosecutors said Locke told investigators Bermudez’s husband had implied the gang MS-13 was responsible. Police said, however, the two men didn’t see each other after the killings.

Locke is due back in court in October.
