Not guilty plea for West Springfield man facing murder charge

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A West Springfield man charged with murder was in court Monday morning. 

23-year-old Terrance Montgomery entered a not guilty plea in Springfield District Court, and will be formally arraigned Tuesday.

Montgomery was arrested in North Carolina on May 29 and will face a murder charge for the May 5 shooting death of Paul “P.J.” Finegan. 

According to Springfield Police Spokesperson Ryan Walsh, Springfield Police took custody of Montgomery on Saturday in Laurinburg, North Carolina.

Members of Finegan’s family were in court Monday.

In addition to the murder charge will also face charges for discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building and carrying a firearm without a license.
