HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Holyoke police are asking for the public’s help for information on a deadly shooting at the intersection of Pine and Hampshire Streets Wednesday night.

Holyoke Police Captain Matthew Moriarty said officers were called to the intersection around 8:20 p.m. for a report of shots fired with injuries. A victim was found at the rear of a building nearby.

Hampden District Attorney Spokesperson Jim Leydon confirmed on Friday that 49-year-old Luis Ramos of Holyoke was taken to Baystate Medical Center for his injuries in the shooting but later died.

Officers from the Holyoke Police Criminal Investigation Bureau, the Holyoke Police Narcotics division, Massachusetts State Police Detective unit and the Hampden District Attorney’s Office are investigating the shooting. Our 22News crews could see several police cruisers in the area of the Holyoke Senior Center and yellow tape at the intersection of Pine and Hampshire Streets.
