Pittsfield man expected to live after shooting near Francis Avenue

A man is recovering after suffering non-life-threatening injuries in a shooting near Francis Avenue and Union Street on December 16. 

Lieutenant Jeffrey Bradford of the Pittsfield Police Department told 22News Shot Spotter activation alerted police of gunfire in the Francis Ave. and Union St. around 7:12 p.m. that Sunday evening. 

In addition to the ShotSpotter activation, Lt. Bradford said they received multiple calls from nearby residents. When officers arrived, they found a 19-year-old Pittsfield man with a gunshot wound to his leg. 

Lt. Bradford said the Pittsfield man was uncooperative with officers when they attempted to interview him for answers. The unidentified Pittsfield man was taken to Berkshire Medical Center. 

The shooting remains under investigation by the Pittsfield Police Department’s Detective Unit.
