FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — Police arrested a man who they say shot another man in the face with a flare gun Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Fall River Police Department, Rajheem Chardonette is being charged with armed assault with intent to murder.

Police responded to the scene on Tecumseh Street around 3:30 p.m. after receiving a call that a man had been shot in the face with a flare gun.

When officers arrived on scene, they found the victim suffering from a wound to his forehead. He was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where he is listed in stable, but serious condition.

According to police, witnesses said there was an argument between the victim and Chardonette prior to the incident. Police believe they were arguing about their gang affiliations.

During the argument, police said Chardonette shot the victim in the forehead with a flare gun before fleeing the scene. He was later located by police and taken into custody.

Chardonette is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday.
