PVTA bus slashing suspect due in court

Crime

A woman accused of injuring two people with a knife on a PVTA bus in Hadley last month is expected to be in court Wednesday.

A hearing is scheduled for 26-year-old Brietta Brown, of Northampton, to determine whether she is fit to stand trial.

The incident happened on Route 9 in Hadley. Two passengers and the driver of the bus all suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Brown was arraigned last month on attempted murder charges in Eastern Hampshire District Court, but a judge later committed her to a mental health facility, where she has been undergoing evaluations.

The 26-year-old was not present in court for her dangerousness hearing in May due to her hospitalization.

Brown has been held without bail.
