A sex offender wanted by authorities was arrested Thursday morning along with his brother, less than 24 hours after being added to the Massachusetts State Police Most Wanted List.
State Police spokesman David Procopio said 35-year-old Roberto Jimenez was arrested and taken into custody by State Police troopers and members of the Holyoke Police Department. Jimenez was added to the Most Wanted Sex Offender List Wednesday with four other men.
Police also arrested Emmanuel Jimenez, who was found to be wanted on several outstanding warrants for narcotics possession, domestic assault and battery, and motor vehicle offenses.
Troopers received information that Roberto may be inside an apartment on Sergeant Street in Holyoke. Troopers and Holyoke Police took both brothers into custody at 7:30 a.m.
Roberto is a Level 3 Sex Offender and was in violation of his Lifetime Sex Offender Registration requirements and probation conditions, Procopio said.
In 2006, police say Roberto was convicted of rape and indecent assault charges of a 12-year-old boy in Springfield. Roberto allegedly met the boy in an online chat room and persuaded the boy to meet him under the guise of playing video games.
The Jimenez brothers were booked at the Holyoke Police station and later taken to Holyoke District Court for their arraignments.
