A retired Auburn music teacher who lives in South Hadley was arrested on several charges including child rape on Wednesday, authorities say.

Auburn Police posted on the Department’s Facebook page that 62-year-old Stephen Jaszek was taken into custody on an arrest warrant issued by the Worcester Superior Court for four counts of rape of a child and one count of aggravated indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.

Auburn police were assisted by South Hadley Detectives and patrol officers as well as State Police troopers assigned to the Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section.

Jaszek is a retired music teacher with the Auburn School District.

Authorities say the crimes Jaszek allegedly committed were within the last ten years and occurred during school hours.

Jaszek is being held without the right of bail and is awaiting arraignment at the Worcester Superior Court Thursday morning.

A news conference will be held at the Auburn Police Department Thursday at 12:30 p.m., after his court appearance.
