A shots fired incident caused the Morgan Elementary School to be placed under locked down Tuesday afternoon.
Holyoke Police Sgt. George Monsalves told 22News the lockdown was placed sometime around 3 p.m. He confirmed that the shots fired incident took place in an area near the school and not inside the school.
Holyoke Public School spokeswoman Judy Taylor said the lockdown was put in place during dismissal and it was a precaution to keep students safe from an “incident in the neighborhood.”
Police say no one was hurt and that investigators are looking into the incident.
