Springfield Narcotics unit arrests four in cocaine busts

The Springfield Police narcotics unit has made a series of cocaine trafficking arrests.

The narcotics unit, headed up by Captain Brian Keenan and Sgt. Christopher Hitas, seized 169 grams of powdered cocaine, and 89 grams of crack-cocaine during a pair of drug raids.

Officers also confiscated nearly $20,000 in cash between the two sets of arrests, along with a shotgun. 

Those arrested and their complete charges are:

Latoya Smith, 32-years-old, of Indian Orchard

  • Trafficking Cocaine
  • Failure to Stop
  • Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (car)
  • Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle

Andres Candelario, 41-years-old, of Springfield 

  • Trafficking Cocaine

Anthony Green of Springfield

  • Trafficking Cocaine 

Latasha Downie, 27-years-old, of Springfield

  • Trafficking Cocaine
  • Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws
  • Improper Storage of a Firearm
  • Firearm in a Felony
