Springfield police investigating overnight shooting on Kenwood Park

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield police are investigating an overnight shooting in the city’s Forest Park neighborhood.

Springfield Police Department spokesman Ryan Walsh told 22News officers were called to Kenwood Park at 1:00 a.m., following a ShotSpotter activation.

Walsh said a gunshot victim was found on Belmont Avenue shortly after. He was taken to Baystate Medical Center with what Walsh described as non-life threatening injuries.

Police are still working to find out what led up to the shooting.
