Springfield police shut down a heroin operation Thursday, seizing 254 bags of heroin, $35,031 in cash, 415 grams of marijuana and two illegal firearms.
Springfield police spokesman Ryan Walsh said around 2:00 p.m. Thursday detectives observed a drug transaction on Webster Street. That led to the arrest of Kaseem Lomax and Christian Roman. Police recovered 10 bags of heroin and more than $21,000.
Walsh said around 2:30 p.m. detectives observed another drug transaction on Webster Street. That led to the arrest of Raphael Jorge, as well as the recovery of 58 bags of heroin.
Then, around 4:00 p.m. Springfield Police Department’s Narcotics Unit along with the Tactical Response Unit made five arrests while executing a search warrant at 22 Webster Street, Walsh said.
Police recovered more than $13,000, more than 240 rounds of ammunition, more than 180 bags of heroin, five bags of crack cocaine, and two loaded fire arms, one of which was reported stolen out of Vermont, said Walsh.
The five people arrested in and around the home at 22 Webster Street are:

They’re all charged with:
- Improper Storage of a Large Capacity Firearm (2 Counts)
- Possession of a High Capacity Feeding Device (2 Counts)
- Possession of a Firearm without a License (2 Counts)
- Possession of Ammunition without an FID
- Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm in the Commission of a Crime (2 Counts)
- Distribution of a Class A Drug
- Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws
- Possession with the intent to Distribute a Class A Drug
- Possession with the intent to Distribute a Class D Drug
- Larceny under $1200
Kaseem Lomax, 37-year-old is charged with:
- Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws
- Possession with the intent to Distribute a Class A Drug
Christian Roman, 23-year-old is charged with:
- Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws
- Possession with the intent to Distribute a Class A Drug
Lomax and Roman were arrested on Maple Street.
Raphael Jorge, 26-year-old is charged with:
- Possession of a Class A Drug
Jorge was arrested on Chestnut Street.
