Police have arrested a suspect after a stabbing incident near the School Street area Monday evening.
Springfield Police spokesman Ryan Walsh told 22News police were called to the area of School and Union streets for a report of a stabbing around 4 p.m.
Walsh said upon arrival, officers found a woman with stab wounds and rushed her to Baystate Medical Center. Walsh described her injuries as serious.
At the time of the incident, a 22News crew on School St. spotted several police cruisers and yellow police tape blocking the street.
There were also police officers going in and out of a building located on the corner of School and Union streets.
