Two arrested inside hotel in Springfield, illegal firearm, cocaine seized

SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP) – Two Springfield men were arrested inside a room at the Tower Square Hotel in Springfield on Thursday morning.

Springfield Police Department spokesman Ryan Walsh told 22News, Narcotics Detectives received information that 33-year-old Raheem Taylor and 33-year-old Shamaun Drayton were in a room with an illegal firearm.

Walsh said when officers gained access to the room they took Taylor and Drayton into custody and found an illegal firearm in the room. Taylor allegedly had cocaine on him.

Taylor is facing the following charges:

  • Carrying a firearm without a license
  • Firearm violation with three prior violent/drug crimes
  • Carrying a loaded firearm without a license
  • Receiving stolen property less than $1200
  • Possession of ammunition without an ID
  • Possession of a High Capacity magazine/feeding device
  • Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony
  • Possession of a Class B Drug

Drayton is facing the following charges:

  • Carrying a firearm without a license
  • Carrying a firearm without a license (2nd offense)
  • Receiving stolen property less than $1200
  • Possession of ammunition without an ID
  • Possession of a High Capacity magazine/feeding device
