Two men arrested after alleged firearm sale in Springfield


SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP) – The Springfield Police Department arrested two men and recovered a firearm on Saturday night.

According to Springfield Police Department’s spokesperson Ryan Walsh, detectives saw a firearms transaction in a parking lot on Sumner Ave at approximately 8:15 p.m.

Walsh said police surrounded the car and immediately stopped the passenger of the vehicle, who was later identified as 30-year-old Isaias Santiago of Holyoke, who tried to run,

Police allegedly recovered a firearm from 30-year-old Samuel Sevilla of Palmer and $133 cash was seized from Santiago. Both men were arrested. 

Santiago and Sevilla are both charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license. Santiago is facing an additional charge of improper sale of a firearm.
