Two men arrested for selling, being in possession of heroin in Holyoke

HOLYOKE, Mass (WWLP) – Two western Massachusetts men have been arrested for allegedly selling and being in possession of heroin.

Holyoke Police Lieutenant Jim Albert said detectives arrested 56-year-old Roberto Bigio-Diaz of Springfield and 44-year-old Jason Hamon of Turners Falls at 145 Essex Street around 2 p.m. on Sunday, after an investigation into suspicious activity in the area.

According to Lt. Albert, the police investigation determined that Bigio-Diaz was conducting narcotics sales and was in possession of numerous bags of heroin during the search. Hamon was arrested on a warrant out for his arrest as well as narcotic charges.

In total, officers seized 300 bags of heroin, $4,700 in cash from Bigio-Diaz and $708 in cash from Hamon.

Bigio-Diaz and Hamon have both been charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession of heroin and conspiracy to violate the drug laws. Hamon is facing an additional charge from a default warrant. 

The two men were arraigned in Holyoke District Court Monday.
