Two men arrested in Springfield on Saturday, firearms seized

SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP) – Two men were arrested in Springfield Saturday after police allegedly seized illegal firearms from them. 

According to Springfield Police Spokesman Ryan Walsh, officers were called to Chestnut Street at 5:30 p.m. for a report of two men with firearms making threats.

When officers got to Chestnut Street they quickly found and arrested 20-year-old Faraah Cooper-Griffith of Chicopee and 24-year-old Joshua Rosa of Springfield. 

Walsh said a firearm was seized from each of the men. 

Both men are charged with carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and assault with a dangerous weapon. 

Cooper-Griffith is also facing charges for possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and threat to commit a crime.

Rosa is also facing additional charges including possession of a large capacity firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a large capacity firearm, carrying a dangerous weapon while having an active warrant and a default warrant from Worcester County in connection to an assault and battery on a pregnant victim.
