Springfield Police arrested two men Wednesday in possession of drugs.
Springfield Police Department spokesman Ryan Walsh said officers observed a drug transaction on Pasadena Street just before noon Wednesday.
A man later identified at Shane Howard was in a car, and a man later identified as Jordan Wray was on a bicycle.
Howard stepped out of his vehicle and had 8 bags of heroin and marijuana on him. He was arrested for possession.
Wray peddled away when officers arrived on Pasadena Street. Just after noon, members of the Forest Park C-3 Unit spotted Wray on Oakland Street.
He allegedly jumped off his bike and started running on Noel Street when officers caught up to him.
Walsh said Wray attempted to grab items from an officers’ duty belt before he was handcuffed and arrested.
Officers allegedly recovered marijuana, crack-cocaine, and more than $200 in cash. Officers also allegedly recovered suboxone on Wray during the booking process.
Wray is charged with distribution of a Class A drug, distribution of a Class D drug, possession with with intent to distribute a Class B drug (2 counts), possession with with intent to distribute a Class D drug, resisting arrest, and assault and battery on a police officer.
Howard is charged with possession of a Class A drug.
