Current and former police officers arraigned in federal court due back in court in June

News

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Thirteen current and former Springfield police officers pleaded not guilty in court Thursday in connection with a fight near Nathan Bill’s Bar back in 2015.

All of the officers arraigned Thursday were released without bail. They were also told to stay away from the alleged victims.

The officers were arraigned on charges from assault and battery, to perjury and misleading a police investigation.

During Thursday’s arraignment, lawyers for two of the accused officers filed a motion to have the alleged victims’ criminal records be used as evidence in the case. The motion was accepted by the judge.

The current officers have all been suspended without pay. Pre-trial hearings will be held on June 18.
