(WWLP) – If you haven’t filed your taxes yet, you don’t have much time left.
For most of the country, Monday was the final day to file your tax return, but for Massachusetts residents that deadline is extended to Wednesday, April 17.
We get two extra days to file our returns because Monday was Patriots Day, and Tuesday is Emancipation Day; both are state holidays.
Some companies also offer free tax filing for state returns, while others charge a fee.
The good news is you can apply for an extension if you don’t file by Wednesday. If you don’t file an extension, you will face interest charges or penalties.
But, if you owe any money, you’ll have to pay it, or you will get penalized by the IRS.
