The rebirth of Christ and flowers are the rebirth of Spring.
Flowers not only smell good, they brighten your room and come in a variety of colors.
From Lilies to daisies, Easter flowers are symbolic for Christians.
It’s the beginning of new life.
The National Retail Federation expects Easter spending to total $18.2 billion dollars this year; pretty close to the record.
22News visited Frank Langone’s florist shop in downtown Springfield to find out how much of that money this landmark florist could expect to see this weekend.
Frank Langone, the owner told 22News, his business has seen a 50-percent decline in Easter sale orders.
A decline that’s gradually happened over the last two decades. “When women wore carsages to church and dressed up, it was a very busy time. Today, its kinda slacked off.”
“With everybody else selling plants, its a mediocre holiday for us now.” Langone told 22News, they expect to sell just about 50 arrangments this Easter weekend. Down from nearly 400 during an earlier time.
An arrangment from this Main street florist will cost you anywhere from $10 to $400 dollars, depending on the size.
And if you need last minute flowers. Langone told 22News, his store is always open on Easter Sunday.
