An East Longmeadow athletic training center is helping raise money for childhood cancer by teaching kids how to improve their baseball skills.
Staff and pro players of Powerhouse Training held a benefit camp for St. Jude Children’s Hospital at their batting cages Saturday morning.
For a small donation, players were able to interact with local professionals and learn proper mechanics and mental strategies. Lessons ranged from learning how to hit the ball in the right spot, to getting comfortable in the box and learning to throw with more power.
Powerhouse Training Coordinator Chuck Jasak told 22News, “I love any time I get to teach a kid how to do something or learn something that helps their game. It feels really good when we get feedback. ‘Hey, what you said to my kid, what you taught my kid helped.'”
All money raised from Saturday’s event will be donated directly to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
