Western Massachusetts is in the midst of flu season and more and more people are coming to emergency rooms requiring relief from their flu symptoms.
Holyoke Medical Center’s Dr. Kartik Viswanathan told 22News, there’s been an increase in the number of people coming to the emergency room with the flu.
The Director of the Holyoke Medical Group practice puts his faith in the effectiveness of getting a flu shot this late in the season.
He appealed to those who have scoffed at the need for getting a flu shot.
“So even though you may be healthy, you’re not transmitting the flu to someone who is sick. So if is very admissible to take the flu shot,” said Dr. Viswanathan.
There’s reportedly still plenty of flu vaccines at pioneer valley pharmacies and doctor’s offices.
