14th annual Big Broadcast show recreates 1940s live radio

The 14th annual “Big Broadcast” was held at Mount Holyoke College Saturday night.

The Jazz Ensembles of Mount Holyoke College recreated a 1940s live radio show.

The show featured popular songs from the swing and big-band era. And emceeing the event Saturday night was 22News Storm Team Meteorologist Brian Lapis.

One Mount Holyoke community advisor said she came to support her residents on the arts floor, most of which performed in the show.

“Today when they extended the invitation, I was really looking forward to coming and offering mutual support during the time of exams, which is really important for my residents,” she told 22News.

The Big Broadcast also featured an original radio play and commercials from the golden age of radio.
