It was the perfect night to visit an old-time country fair.

The 163rd annual Middlefield Fair kicked off Friday night and there was something for everyone.

Dozens of families gathered to enjoy arts and crafts activities,  balloon animals, and local food vendors.

One vendor told 22News why she likes to participate in the small-town celebration.

“It’s a nice little fair,” said Marie Galanek. “The county fairs, we like the feel, the family feel of small fairs. It’s a lot of fun and it’s our fun thing to do in the summer.”

The Middlefield Fair will run through the weekend, coming to a close Sunday night.

The fair features a Horse-pull competition on Saturday.
