MGM Springfield hosts first Bags and Brews Cornhole Tournament

Entertainment

Saturday was the start to college football season and Sunday, MGM Springfield held a tournament for a popular tailgate game.

Amateur and seasoned cornhole players competed in the first ever Bags and Brews Cornhole Tournament at The Plaza at MGM Springfield.

Players score one point by getting a sandbag to land on the board, and three points by getting it into the hole.

Rosemarie Zello of Connecticut told 22News she enjoys the atmosphere the game brings.

“We actually have friends playing in the tournament so we came down to support them. It’s pretty fun. It’s a fun picnic game,” said Zello.

The winning team took home a $1,000 prize, as well as a spot in the American Cornhole League’s Championship of Bags.
