The 30th annual Stone Soul Festival started Friday night in Springfield.
People gathered at Blunt Park for music, rides, and food.
This year’s festival includes a tribute to the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, who was laid to rest Friday.
One of the Festival’s longtime food vendors said she’s been coming here since it began and will be honored Saturday as part of the festivities.
“It started out to be a family picnic and bringing friends and family back, but it’s turned into a festival for the whole community,” said Betty of Betty’s Ribs and Things. I’ve enjoyed it over the years.”
The Stone Soul Festival continues Saturday and Sunday in Blunt Park.
