F-15 Eagles to fly over Boston Marathon

The 104th Fighter Wing of the Barnes Air National Guard Base will perform an F-15 Eagle flyover for the Boston Marathon on Monday.

In a news release sent to 22News, the flyover will take place at the starting line in Hopkinton, Massachusetts. The F-15 eagles will fly in formation, serving as a symbol of air power and patriotism.

The flyovers performed during any special event serves as an additional training opportunity for the pilots and ground crews, and are scheduled if the operational mission allows, as part of the regular annual flying training plan.

Personnel from the 104th Security Forces Squadron and 104th Civil Engineering Explosive Ordinance Disposal team will also be at the Marathon. They will be providing law enforcement support to the Commonwealth which is referred to as National Guard Civil Support.
