Facebook announced Friday that all political ads on the site will soon be labeled and show who paid for it.
The social media giant was used by Russian groups to influence political opinions during the 2016 election.
This new feature will not only show who paid for the political ad but also require the people running the ads to verify themselves and their location.
The ads will be kept in a database, where they also include information about cost and target audience.
CEO Mark Zuckerberg is scheduled to testify in front of congress next week about Russian meddling and the data of users shared with Cambridge Analytica.
The labeling is to roll out later this spring.
