Family of local woman killed in Ethiopian plane crash files lawsuit

SHEFFIELD, Mass. (NEWS10) – The family of a Massachusetts woman killed in the Ethiopian plane crash last month has filed a lawsuit.

They want to hold the plane manufacturer and the FAA responsible.

Samya Stumo, 24, of Sheffield,  was on a work assignment in Africa when the jet went down in Ethiopia.

The crash killed all 157 on board.

It was the second deadly crash involving Boeing’s 737 Max 8 jet.

The lawsuit claims Boeing haphazardly rushed the plane to market and concealed potential problems with its automated system.

They allege Boeing rejected multiple options to make the planes safer. The family also claims that the FAA failed to properly hire and train adequate technical workers to competently perform inspections.
