Fire burning for hours at Springfield trash facility

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Firefighters were called to the F.P. McNamara Transfer Station in Springfield, Friday night, to control a large trash fire.

The flames were down significantly by 9:00 p.m., but Leger said crews were still trying to keep it from smoldering back up.

No word yet on what caused the fire. When 22News arrived at the facility, we could see that the flames had caused some damage.
