SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Firefighters were called to the F.P. McNamara Transfer Station in Springfield, Friday night, to control a large trash fire.
Springfield Fire Spokesperson Dennis Leger told 22News the department received a report of a trash fire around 4:00 p.m. Friday, at 44 Rose Street.
The flames were down significantly by 9:00 p.m., but Leger said crews were still trying to keep it from smoldering back up.
No word yet on what caused the fire. When 22News arrived at the facility, we could see that the flames had caused some damage.
