(WPRI) — A Bellingham home was heavily damaged by fire Friday evening as its owners were in the process of moving in.
Emergency crews arrived on Pine Street to find the 2.5-story home fully involved, according to Deputy Chief Mark Poirier.
“The first companies were right down the street, they came in, they made a great initial attack, knocked down the fire, but the fire was into the attic at that point and it involved and it continued to burn,” he explained.
It’s unclear at this time if anyone was home when the fire broke out.
Poirier said one Bellingham firefighter was taken to the hospital with an unspecified injury.
The town’s building official condemned the home, according to Poirier. He said it appears to be a total loss.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
